I am probably the first buyer of this book in Germany and there is a reason for that: I was fortunate enough to spend a couple of nights (..and mornings..;-) at Dana's and Greg's then B&B, the Kingsleigh Inn in Southwest Harbour, Maine, in 2006. I was amazed by Dana's and Greg's easygoing hospitality; they actually felt like friends right from the beginning. And, oh, what a nice surprise their breakfasts were...honest to God: this was the first place where I experienced breakfast as a three-course-meal that stays nothing short of a perfect dinner: what a way to start your day!
This cookbook provides those of us who are not as inventive and creative as Dana with an instruction on "how to"...
how to make breakfast a special way to start your day, how to make each dish look like a piece of art, how to present food to the best of its possibilities. In doing that, it resembles more the handwriten collection of recipes your Grandma may have handed down to you than some shiny coffeetable book, that looks good in your parlour but hardly ever is brought to life. And that is exactly what it is meant to be: an everyday companion that inspires you to try a little harder with your cooking, to use it as a way to express yourself, to give room to your creativity, to put a little more effort and love into the seemingly unimportant chores.
Go ahead then: buy this book, enjoy the beautiful photographs, the well-researched recipes...and the love that Dana put into every detail of this valuale addition to your cookbook collection...you'll be glad you did..;-))
