This book was so helpful to me as a full time working mother with a 7 year old daughter. The crafts were simple to do, yet looked like we had spent days in the making. What more could a mother want! My daughter loved making the easy decoupage christmas balls almost as much as my in-laws loved receiving them. The candy land house was our schools answer to the dreded gingerbread house (the frame is made from a six pack carboard container) I cheer the author who can put together such a well written & workable book. In closing I am off to the kitchen to whip up one of the fabulous recipes! I would say wish me luck, but I have confidence in the Snow White Bunnies being the perfect answer.

Toast to Omaha: A Cookbook by the Junior League of Omaha Review

Toast to Omaha: A Cookbook by the Junior League of Omaha
Average Reviews:

OK, full disclosure, I was on the cookbook committee, so I am biased. But, we worked very hard and tested each one of these recipes, and they are all excellent! Over 800 recipes were submitted, and only 300 made it.
Here's why I love this cookbook (and why over 10,000 have been sold so far!): I love to cook, and I love my hometown of Omaha - this cookbook combines the best of both worlds. It includes wonderful tidbits about famous (and not-so-famous) Omaha restaurants, plus the recipes are truly gourmet, without being too stuffy. Many current restaurants contributed recipes, which have been fun to try. The photographs and menus from long-closed restaurants have been an interesting look inside Omaha's history. And I've solved the only problem the cookbook presents (display on the coffee table or on my cookbook shelf?) by buying two!

The Light Touch Cookbook: All-Time Favorite Recipes Made Healthful and Delicious

I've made several recipes from this cookbook and many others from Ms. Simmons other ones. They are all terrific, all work, and directions are clear. This one is great. I made a dessert that is a roll-up cake with lemon curd and strawberries. It was yummy, tart (add a little more sugar if you like it sweeter), and it worked! Served it with the raspberry and strawberry sauce and everybody had two helpings. Low fat, too! I love Marie Simmons; I also trust her recipes. Highly recommended.

Cooking With Bananas (Spanish Edition) Review

Cooking With Bananas (Spanish Edition)
Average Reviews:

If I ever get stranded on an island covered with banana plants, I hope I have a copy of this book with me! David has covered the complete possibilities of the banana in "Cooking With Bananas". Call me conservative but I'll likely stick to the bread and dessert sections. However, for the more daring there are such dishes as Chicken and Banana Casserole, Banana Citrus Seafood Stew and Tropical Fruit Stir fry.
I don't know if Elvis preferred mayonnaise on his "Nanna" sandwiches or not, but David offers a recipe for one. My kids are very interested in the sweets section, including the Banana Nut Pops and Frozen Chocolate Bananas. Whatever gets them to eat more fruit is fine with me!
David has been kind enough to give us a little introduction to this versatile fruit, with nutrition values and choices of varieties available. I love David's cookbooks. They offer a new look at staple foods, with a unique twist. The occasional typo, here and there, only adds to the charm of these titles. Have fun with your food!

At Freedom's Table: More Than 200 Years of Recipes and Remembrance from Military Wives Review

At Freedom's Table: More Than 200 Years of Recipes and Remembrance from Military Wives
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The read is as good as the recipes! This narrative cookbook features the comfort foods we all have come to love and enjoy. Now as always, soldier's letters home almost always contained a line or two about a favorite meal. The women who prepared these meals were often women of exceptional courage and strength.
I am exceptionally proud of the women profiled in this narrative cookbook. They made tremendous contributions to our country and are role models for every generation. Not only did they design and make flags that defined us as a nation, many like Margaret Cochran Corbin stepped up to the artillery to defend it. When her husband fell by her side during a British Hessian attack on Fort Washington, she took his place at the cannon. Her 'her'oic action was noted by a resolution of Congress in 1779
Others, like Sarah Borginis accompanied their husbands and enlisted as cooks. When General Zachary Taylor took most of his troops from Fort Brown to the Rio Grande, the undermanned fort was attacked by Santa Anna's forces. Sarah was issued a gun and it is said that while dodging cannon and musket fire she never missed striking a target or preparing a meal. Upon his return, General Taylor breveted her to Colonel. After the war Sarah opened a hotel in El Paso, which became a favorite of the 49er's heading to the California gold fields.
These are only two of the many featured women, who captivated me with their timeless stories, words of wisdom and advice that is as relevant now as it was then. I do not have space to tell you of Deborah Champion who outdistanced Paul Revere in her midnight ride, or Prudence Wright, Charity Adams and others whose service and sacrifice contributed to the greatness of our nation.
...The star's belong to these truly heroic women.
Thanks so much to all of you who stop me to say you love the book. It was truly a labor of love. Air Force bred and wed, (brat and wife) a life of military service is all I have ever known. And without exception, it has been a wonderful experience. The pride I have in the history and heritage of military wives led me to write this book.

Slurp: Drinks and Light Fare, All Day, All Night
Average Reviews:

The best thing about this book is the stunning photography. It starts out with some basics talking about the various types of barware and garnishes. The book is then divided by the time of day. It gives recipe for non-alcoholic and alcoholic breakfast drinks and a couple of recipes of what would go with them food wise. It then goes on to cover lunch and dinner. The recipes are simple. There are a few recipes that I thought I might try. As far as a drink book goes, you get a lot more in an actual bar book. If all you want is just a sampling of drinks this book would be good for you.

What's For Dinner? Review

What's For Dinner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have bought other menu style cookbook but this one is the only one I can't seem to break away from. Why do I want to break away from it? Too many of the recipes use canned soup and the overall diet is high in saturated fat. Why do I love it? Because it gets a number of courses on the table with so little effort, it looks impressive and although I think many of the side dishes are only so-so, my (grown) son has loved almost every meal I've made from this book. I also save money using this cookbook. The recipes call for inexpensive, easy to find and familiar ingredients. Also much thought has been given towards incorporating left-overs into the menus, from roast beef to that bag of potatoes. There is even an ingredient index in the back of the book. I have other cookbooks that are advertised as being "budget" but the author of this cookbook seems to understand that waste is a bigger budget buster than buying chicken breasts, for example, instead of chicken thighs.
If you like economical cooking that is ridiculously easy to make, fairly healthy but uses canned soups and packaged foods a lot in the menus, you might like the online weekly meal plans on e-mealz. (Be sure to put in the dash. You want e-mealz, not emealz.) They have several different meal plans to choose from and it costs $15 for 3 months. They even have plans for certain stores like Walmart where they tell you what brands to buy in order to get the best price.
