The 10% Solution for a Healthy Life: How to Reduce Fat in Your Diet and Eliminate Virtually All Risk of Heart Disease and Cancer Review

The 10% Solution for a Healthy Life: How to Reduce Fat in Your Diet and Eliminate Virtually All Risk of Heart Disease and Cancer

Standing out from a field of "fad" diet books(The Zone;Sugar Busters;Atkins, etc.) like a pearl in a sea of mud,The 10% Solution is a lucid, intelligently written,well-documented eating plan that really works.(I know--I've been following it for some time now, with fantastic results) Kurzweil is NOT a nutritionist--rather,he's a computer scientist--but he's clearly done his homework, and his writing style and format make it easy for anyone to understand the principles of a healthy diet. Yet he doesn't over-simplify,or insult the reader with emotional pleas and lack of documentation. In a nutshell, the "10% Solution" means that no more than 10% of the calories in your diet should come from fat. Extreme? (After all,the FDA,AHA,and other mainstream entities recommend a diet consisting of 30% of calories from fat) Not at all,as Kurzweil convincingly demonstrates. What's extreme is the eating habits cultivated by "developed" societies like our own ov! er the last century, where undue emphasis is placed on fat. The author compares our typical diet with one from rural Asia, along with respective heart disease and cancer rates. The figures are staggering. Yes--despite what you've heard from the latest fad diet promoters--fat IS the culprit(of course,SOME fat is necessary). A truly low-fat,nutritionally balanced eating program is an enormous factor in attaining good overall health. And,yes, you can(and will,no doubt) lose weight on this regimen--but more importantly, you'll feel better and improve your health immensely. Cutting down to 10% of calories from fat does take some adjustments, but it's not as hard to do as many may think, and Kurzweil makes it easier with a section of recipes. I've read quite a few books on diet and nutrition, and this is clearly the best-written one I've personally seen. Read it and change your life for the better.

The Complete Book of Enzyme Therapy: A Complete and Up-to-Date Reference to Effective Remedies Review

The Complete Book of Enzyme Therapy: A Complete and Up-to-Date Reference to Effective Remedies
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Dr. Cichoke does a great job of giving the basics of enzyme therapy, that is the therapeutic value of increasing the enzyme content of your diet. The book covers enzymes in natural foods, such as amylases (starch digesters) in beet juice, as well as powerful enteric-coated enzyme pills, such as Wobe Mugos. The book is divided into multiple sections. The first 88 pages are an introductory course in enzyme types (such as amylase, lipase, pancreatin, papain, etc), the function of enzymes, as well as an encyclopedia of "enzyme helpers" such as vitamins, etc, and their individual benefits. In fact, the information is extremely useful even for those not interested in enzyme therapy, particularly the tables listing various phytochemicals and their uses.
The rest of the book is grouped by disorder, such as cancer or MS, with enzyme prescriptions for each disease. The guide also documents research on herbs, vitamins, and even more mainstream medicines. The end of the book has popular enzyme formulas, addresses of public information groups, and various enzyme therapies. If you have read "Prescription for Nutritional Healing" you will find the format of this book to be almost identical to that. The disease section is comprehensive, although often I feel as if Cichoke is stretching it a bit on some diseases, since research on enzymes and their relation to most diseases is just not available yet.
Overall this book is fascinating and in some ways it should be used as the guide for those discovering enzymes and their value in medicine and nutrition. The only complaint I have is that at times the book does not get technical enough. It just did not answer many of my questions, which I would assume are common (such as, "how much Pancreatin survives the stomach environment?" Or, "will cellulase enzymes increase the calorie content of cellulose rich meals?"). Of course, enzyme therapy is, despite starting at the turn of the century, in its infancy, and many of these answers might not even exist yet. Enzymes and their uses fascinate me, and if you are intrigued as well, this book will prove more than satisfactory.

I Love to Eat Vegetarian Review

I Love to Eat Vegetarian

Day by day and step by step, we are learning to eat healthier. Sheri and Brian Fisher have worked with our health for the last three years. We are learning to cook, prepare, and enjoy nutritious and delicious food without using milk products, white flour, white sugar, or meat. After being diagnosed with arthritis, and severe asthma, I am now symptom free and taking no medications (after being on 17 different types of allergy and asthma meds). I eat Sheri's granola every morning. I use her whole wheat bread recipe to make our bread. We use black beans and brown rice to top our salads. We feel better, sllep better, and enjoy much better health. Thank you, Fishers, for introducing such a new and rewarding way of living to us. After being married for 45 years, it has taken a lot of dedication and change to bring us to this point, but we are enjoying a healthier, happier, way of life.
Mike and Joyce
My wife uses 3 of Sheri Fisher's vegie books and we are enjoying more fruits and vegetables that ever before. Truly books worthy of investing in.
Growing up in suburban America, we always had meat and potatoes on the table. I can't say I didn't like Mom's cooking, because she was a wonderful cook. Our table was always set with what's refered to today as "comfort food". However, I now believe a healthier balance of foods is truly more "comfort".
We are grateful that Mrs. Fisher has taken the time, and energy, to create her books, and in turn helped us create our own better style of dinning. We highly recommend her books to all.
Mike in Arizona.

Redesigning 50: The No-Plastic-Surgery Guide to 21st-Century Age Defiance

This book is terrific. It deserves at least 7 stars. ******* Its explains in detail issues as diverse as blood tests the average Doctor doesn't even perform such as C-Reactive Protein, homocysteine, and fibrinogen. It also explains hormone therapy both synthetic and bioidentical. It explains nutraceuticals, mesotherapy, the whole world of non invasive and minimally invasive facial and skin rejuvenation such as Thermage, Carboxytherapy In typical Oz style he actually interviews the leading Doctors in each of their respective fields and they are the ones who provide much of the diverse information in the book. You would have to buy at least a dozen books ( one from each of the expert authors) to get all of that information in one place. Oh yes and there was a chapter on food the first one. Its astonishing and a terrible disservice that someone could write a review after reading only one chapter, clearly ignorant of the wealth of information in this book, admit it and Amazon actually posts it. There is no way that anyone, even a Doctor or a scientist, could know all of the information in this book because contributions were made by over 50 leading Doctors and companies.

Robin Rescues Dinner: 52 Weeks of Quick-Fix Meals, 350 Recipes, and a Realistic Plan to Get Weeknight Dinners on the Table
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've purchased two previous books from Robin Miller, one I liked, the other not so much so I was really wondering which way this third book would go for me.
The book is laid out in weeks. The weeks run from January through December (they aren't labeled as such) but she mentions in the introduction the 'warm you up from the inside out' meals will be in the beginning and the end with the warm weather menus that use fresh summer produce are in the middle.
Each week has 3 meals. I can't tell you HOW MUCH I LOVE THIS!! I've learned in the past that I don't cook 5 meals, regardless of all the shopping and planning I put into it, I just lose steam and don't 'feel it' come day four and five of the week. So the fact that she features three menu's for each day is WONDERFUL!
At the beginning of each week she lists the menu and a page entitled "Prep List"for example week 24 includes* Grilled Chicken w/Sherried Carmamelized Wild Mushrooms
* Baja Chicken Soft Tacos
**quick side dish: Olice and Tomato-spiked rice
* Seared Tuna w/Miso Broth and Sesame Soba Noodles
**Quick side dish: Chunky Tomato Salad
then on the opposite page is the "Prep List"
* Cook extra chicken for the tacos when you make the grilled chicken. (Refrigerate up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before using.)
* Cook soba noodles for the tuna dish; toss with oil as directed (refrigerate up to 2 days).
The recipes are on the next three pages complete with prep time and cook time. I've never been one to prep ahead but I'd be curious to see how it works, I may have to try it.
The recipes are in a nice large font, the ingredients in bold with a lot of options for each recipe, ie; morphing into another meal, or a quick side dish option.
All in all, the book has a VERY NICE layout, pleasing to the eyes as you browse through it. There are two groupings of pics, not a lot but hey the book is $20 so I'm not complaining.
I GIVE THIS A TWO THUMBS UP or in this case FIVE STARS!!!

Strong Women Stay Slim Review

Strong Women Stay Slim
Average Reviews:

As a nearly life-long dieter and minimal exerciser, I can't tell you how impressed I am with the results I've got from using this book, compared with others I've tried. I'd followed Strong Women Stay Young (which I also highly recommend for us 50-plussers) for about 10 weeks, so maybe that gave me a head start, at least in terms of getting me into a consistent exercising regime, but the food plan in SWSS is what really got me losing weight & trimming down in size. I've lost 3 kg/6.6 pounds, gone from tight slacks/jeans in Australian size 14 (U.S. 16, I think), to where my Aussie size 12s are too big - in about 10-12 weeks. I'm rarely hungry and have stopped craving or being satisfied with junk food. The book is enjoyable to read, the authors' credentials seem impeccable, and the food plan is nutritionally sound and so wonderfully flexible that even to say I'm on a diet feels somehow dishonest. With its "no-fad," "no frills" approach, SWSS has made me really believe I'll never be fat/flabby/weak again. I reckon Dr Nelson & colleagues have given me the tools to stay slim/toned/strong for a long time to come.

Alternative Medicine: The Christian Handbook, Updated and Expanded Review

Alternative Medicine: The Christian Handbook, Updated and Expanded
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The ambitious project by Doctors O'Mathuna and Larimore that I read in
2001 exceeded my expectations. Their updated version keeps the same high
standards.
Starting with overviews and definitions of alternative and conventional
medicine, they acknowledge the limitations of both types of medicine and
explore some follies perpetrated over the centuries in the names of both
orthodoxy and alternatives. They then move on to discuss Christian
principles of health. Their definition of holistic health does not
narrowly view it as the pursuit of physical health solely, but as part of
the means to a successful life that includes physical, emotional, social
and spiritual aspects. They also offer well-researched biblical
explanations for illness and suffering. Lastly, they offer advice on how
to pursue good health. I found all of their listed suggestions to be very
reasonable. It is hard to argue with advocates of preventative health care
visits, exercise and balanced diets.
The authors' spiritual analysis of each therapy, measuring each against a
bible-based standard, sets this book apart from others. Such information
is important because of the current trend to equate some health behaviors
with spiritual maturity, or to presume that "anything that works must be
good (or from God)." O'Mathuna and Larimore carefully look at each
treatment or supplement to evaluate possible spiritual implications, using
as much of the original source materials in each area as possible. They
also present both the overt and covert spiritual worldviews of the
therapies' practitioners. Some of these are incompatible with biblical
truth, and Christians must steer clear of them. However, both authors also
acknowledge that sometimes one's choice of health behaviors (e.g. dietary
choices) comes down to a personal conviction and not a biblical command.
Before diving into their evaluation of each specific therapy, they present
how they objectively evaluate them to determine effectiveness and safety.
Their concise primer on the scientific method and statistics is helpful
for any reader unskilled in critically evaluating the medical literature.
They briefly discuss their statistical methods, why and how the methods
originated, and then freely acknowledge the limitations and weaknesses
statistical methods have and their need for continued refinements.
If you are looking for a sweeping condemnation of all alternative
medicine, you will be disappointed (and shame on you anyway). They clearly
state when there is good evidence for the effectiveness of alternative
therapies, even if it ruffles the feathers of some conventionalists.
Conversely, they are willing to sternly warn of the ineffectiveness,
wastefulness, and potential dangers of therapies that do not meet their
objective standards. They base their reviews on the best international
literature available. This use of international literature is particularly
important given that many of the best studies available, and in some cases
the only studies done, were not performed in the United States or
published in English-based journals.
The book's major section succinctly evaluates 56 herbal remedies, vitamins
and dietary supplements. The `medicinal herbs' reviewed include ones
familiar and foreign to me, such as: aloe, ephedra, milk thistle,
pennyroyal, vitamin C, and zinc. They neither trample on nor trumpet any
given supplement, but apply consistent standards and report their results.
O'Mathuna and Larimore's research helps patients and practitioners alike
to avoid alternative therapies that are medically dangerous, drains to
their pocketbooks, and in some cases, spiritually worrisome. On the other
hand, for modalities or supplements of proven value, they inform the
reader as to what specific condition(s) they treat and how to determine
how much active element an herbal or vitamin product contains.
This is an excellent, readable resource for health practitioners and
patients alike. Alternative medicines and therapies are used by up to 40
percent of patients. Most patients and practitioners alike are woefully
uneducated about the data that supports or disapproves the efficacy of
these non-conventional approaches. Similarly, most Christians are unaware
of the spiritual significance the practitioners of some of these therapies
ascribe to them, with possible attendant dangers. In my opinion, neither
the giver nor the receiver of health care can afford to be without this
valuable reference.

This book is absolutely awesome. The recipes are simple (and great at that!), she gives a lot of background info on each of the ingredients. Being a licensed cosmetologist myself, I can tell you that she really knows her stuff (she is a licensed esthetician). I have been making my own bath and body products for a few years (using pre-made bases from suppliers) but just decided to introduce a completely organic line of products and I think this is the best book that I have read so far on the subject and highly recommend it. Great for beginners or those who have been doing this a while.

The G.I. Diet Clinic Review

The G.I. Diet Clinic
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This diet has really worked for me and I want to add some of my observations. There are some pretty comprehensive reviews on here already so I will not summarize anything from the book to minimize repetition.
Stats on me:
I started in May of 05 and lost 5 pounds a week for the first four weeks. I only lost so much because I was well over 200lb (as a 5'5'' female). After that it was more gradual with plateaus and minor ups and downs. I have gone periods were I was only following it 50% faithfully and did not gain the weight back. I am moderately active: gym two to three times a week (usually for an hour water aerobics class) and I do not have a car so I walk everywhere.
Diet Pro's:
- Its Healthy. No doctor would be concerned if his/her patient ate veggies and balanced whole grains and lean proteins. Worst-case scenario: you try it and don't loose weight, but you will not have hurt your metabolism or raised your cholesterol in doing so.
- Its Not a Gimmick. This is not based on "eat all the bacon and cheese you want" or some other counter-intuitive nonsense. Its principals are in line with what is known and widely accepted in medical science.
- Cuts Cravings and is designed to keep your belly full. With three meals and three snacks a day of slowly digested food I am not hungry. Additionally, keeping my blood sugar stable stopped the need to binge eat.
- Not dogmatic. Ever read a diet book where you feel like the author is practically trying to convert you to a religion? Gallop certainly believes in this diet and he makes no mention that it might not work for every person (see con below), however he spends most of his time laying out simple science and practical guidelines. He even says your goal should be to follow it 90% of the time. If you have a cookie, big deal, the worst thing that can happen is it will take slightly longer to lose some weight.Diet Con's:
- Unfortunately, as with all diets, this will work great for some people and not for others. Its more likely to work for you if you:
o Tend to carry your fat in the belly. i.e. "apple," "barrel," or "cone" shaped for women, or a guy with a "beer belly"
o Have major cravings for carbs - perhaps even binge eat on things like pastries, candy, pasta and bread.
o Have been diagnosed with insulin resistance, pre-diabetes, or even type II diabetes
-The recipes can be bland - more from the author not being a chef, not the principals of the diet, so if you are a practiced cook you can make alterations for flavor and texture that stay true to the diet. The book encourages you to go the author's website where there are recipes submitted by readers available for free and they are quite good.
-You will have to cook. I have been on this diet for over two years and like to cook, so its been great for me. This book in the series is by far my favorite.
***UPDATE June 2008***
Make that 90+ pounds lost in three years. I still cook most of my food from the recipes found in Gallop's books. They have passed the picky boyfriend test, potluck test and the I can stick to this for the rest of my life test. Some points:
-During this time I have gone months and months with no weight loss but I was only *mostly* following the diet. I think I needed these breaks.
-I work out intensely for 60 minutes 4 days a week now.

It takes only 13 weeks—three months—one season—and you're on your way to permanent, healthy weight loss. Based on the Glycemic Index, and developed by Rick Gallop, author of the New York Times bestselling G.I. Diet, The G.I. Diet Clinic is a complete weight-loss plan that incorporates recipes, meal plans—from breakfast through a late-night snack—motivational techniques and tips, and the inspirational real life stories of dozens of participants from G.I. Diet online workshops, where the average dieter lost 26 pounds—in 13 weeks! The claim to the G.I. Diet has always been its simplicity: If you can follow a traffic light, you can follow the diet. What Gallop does in The G.I. Diet Clinic is show not only how the specifics of the diet work, but how to survive, enjoy, and ultimately embrace a new way of eating. With a different chapter for each week, Gallop covers meal planning, and how to convert a family's favorite foods into "green light" dishes. He writes about behavior change and what to do when temptation's too strong and you temporarily fall off the wagon; here, the combination of insightful tips (distract yourself with an activity; pinpoint the exact flavor you want) and encouraging comments from fellow dieters really helps. And he discusses exercise, dining out, unrealistic expectations, emotional eating, and "the plateau"— how to stay focused and motivated enough to cross it. Included are 65 delicious green-light recipes, from Oatmeal Buttermilk Pancakes, Rigatoni with Mini Meatballs, and Mushroom-and-Gravy Pork Chops to Apple Raspberry Coffee Cake and Pecan Brownies. That's right: brownies.

Thinking about herbs and their value in healing? Wondering how acupressure works? Not sure what macrobiotics are? Wondering how to heal yourself through good nutrition and supplements? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this complete natural healing collection is a book you simply must own.
Whether you are interested for the sake of wellness or in need of natural healing for a condition or disease, you will find the information you need inside the cover of this book. The book itself is larger than an encyclopedia, 10 1/2 by 13 3/4". It includes chapters on naturopathy, herbalism, homeopathy, aromatherapy, Eastern healing methods, energy healing, flower essences, mind-body healing techniques, healing with foods, nutrition, diet and supplements, and other healing techniques. Wow ... nearly 500 pages of information, suggestions, tips, charts, and tables. Amazing!
My favorites are the chapters on nutrition and herbs. There are some things that at the moment I don't have time to do, like growing my own sprouts, but with suggestions for every condition from eating disorders to high blood pressure and everything in between, the pages of this book are sure to be frequently referenced in my home, like the next time one of us gets poison ivy. Since we live in a wooded area, that happens more frequently than I like to remember.
Like Susan Schenk, I also am quite interested in the section on targeted nutrition. Most people wait until they have an affliction before they do anything about it. In the hospital where I work, our insurance costs are skyrocketing, and the top five diseases and conditions causing this rise are totally preventable. Many of our health problems today are due to our lousy diet.
Interested in prevention and natural healing? This is one book you need to order!

"Diets, like clothes, should be tailored to you."Holistic Lifestyle: A Layman's Guide to Eating and Living Your Way to Better Health and HappinessThis is the guide that you have been waiting for, dreaming of and desperately needing to put you on a path to eating healthy that utilizes a simple program that you set up and then watch week by week the pounds vanish and your energy increase. It was created out of necessity and desperation. My husband had to have open heart surgery when he turned 42. He also had four subsequent stent placements. After the last one he decided that he wanted to change his life to become healthier. So, the two of us went on a quest to find some magic plan to become healthier that we could actually live with.He did not want to eat tofu, nuts and twigs and I did not want to have to be a gym rat. We searched for a plan that would fit our lifestyle. But, nothing really seemed right for us or gave enough instructions to cover everything. What to do? Being a nurse, massage therapist, Reiki Master and Clinical Aroma Therapist I knew about many different modalities that influence our health. But, nothing seemed to pull it all together in one nice and easy to follow format. That was the beginning of this journey.I wanted a resource book that looked at everything, diet, exercise, stress management/reduction, how to cook, what to cook, what to wear, what to clean my house and body with, in a word one manual that encompassed all aspects of life to obtain mental, physical and spiritual health. This is a little bit about everything. I do not claim to be an expert on life or how to live it. What I have done is compiled all the things that have helped me in the past and that continue to help me to improve myself and my health. My goal was to have a resource guide that contained everything that I would need in order to obtain optimal health. - Anne Hunt

Going raw "Diana style" is a treat your body will never forget. I went raw immediately - the very next meal - after meeting Diana in 2008. I could not have imagined how good Diana's raw recipes, combined with her practically trademark brand of inspiration, could make me feel. I went from 180 to 160 pounds in just a few months, felt amazing, slept better and had more energy than ever before. I know it's hard to believe, but true! Many around me that witnessed the transformation wanted to get started, but felt immediate stress wondering what they would eat, how they could do it, etc. Diana's new book makes it easy. It's not just the delicious and easy-to-make recipes, but a great approach to getting the most from a raw diet and lifestyle. Diana's inspiration can be felt in every aspect, word and page of the book. - you'll be surprised at what a difference that can make. Get it!
Love, Love, Love

this is a pretty tasty book of smoothies. the chapters talk about how nutrients keep you healthy, organic food, smoothie basics and recipes. the recipes are simple, delish and include every kind of fruit and vegetable imaginable. whey protein powder is used in many of the recipes. my only complaint is these smoothies are high in calories. majority of the recipes range from 175 to over 500 calories for one glass. of course these are so good, you'll want a couple glass fulls. if calories are not that important, these refreshing recipes will do the trick.

It's now an accepted medical fact that the nutrients in certain fruits and vegetables make them "super foods" because they are the highest in the vitamins and other nutrients that naturally build our immune systems. Smoothies --frosty, thick, luscious drinks--are a way that all members of the family can gleefully boost their nutrition and maintain strong immune systems, and Supercharge Your Immune System is a book that allows them to do so deliciously.
One hundred recipes for special smoothies include a delicious assortment of food and flavors, take minutes to prepare, and are packed with the vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals that fight autoimmune disorders. Most importantly, they taste great-because readers won't benefit from what they don't drink.

Includes recipes that are delicious and kid-friendly.

Healthy Foods: Fact versus Fiction Review

Healthy Foods: Fact versus Fiction

This is one of those books that should be in every public library; if it isn't in yours, make the suggestion to your librarians to get it. The authors have provided heavily footnoted information on fifty foods often mentioned in discussions of what makes up a healthy diet.
This reference is primarily vegetarian, with only eggs and sardines included in the list of foods included, and some of the "trendy" kinds of things like acacia berries are conspicuous by their absence. Each food (listed alphabetically) is described with a summary of research related to the potential for assisting in improving our health. Take "dried plums" as an example. After noting that "in the past, dried plums were often viewed more as a laxative," this chapter moves on to note that there have been studies showing positive impacts of dried plums on osteoporosis, weight management, atherosclerosis, cardiovascular health, breast cancer, and possibly even in suppressing the growth of major food-borne pathogens in ground meat. These are not the kinds of "miracle cure" statements seen in those ubiquitous internet ads but instead include citations of studies around the world, with the findings carefully stated.
Almost every section ends with a caveat or two; for dried plums, those who tend to be anemic are advised that these could reduce absorption of iron, so dried plum juice should be consumed only between meals.
Most chapters end with a "should XXX be part of the diet?" For some things--garlic for example--they enthusiastically endorse the food. For others, there is a more measured response. After citing a large number of benefits of tea, there is mention of potential interaction with cancer drugs that should be discussed with the oncologist of anyone taking these, along with a reminder that green tea contains high fluoride levels, so those drinking fluoridated water may need to limit this otherwise beneficial beverage.
There is much to be learned from this book. If you write about or work with foods and menu planning on a daily basis, it could be an excellent addition to your personal library. However, I have given it only four stars for the general reader, because it is probably more detailed than most would find necessary to purchase for themselves. But, just as I started this review, I will say it again--I heartily recommend Healthy Foods: Fact Versus Fiction as a critical part of every public library's reference section.

8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed Up to 2 Pounds a Week -- Guaranteed Review

8 Minutes in the Morning: A Simple Way to Shed Up to 2 Pounds a Week -- Guaranteed

Jorge Cruise has developed a quick way to "jump-start" your morning. By performing only 8 minutes of strength training and following a simple diet Jorge says you can shape up! In fact on the cover of his book he guarantees weight loss in just 4 weeks.
I think the strength training aspect of his program is very good. The photographs are clear and the descriptions for the exercises are concise. Jorge leads you through 4 sets of 12 repetitions for 2 exercises, alternating them for greater effect.
There are a number of exercises including standing heel raises, kickups, knee pushups, and one arm curls.
Despite the short time period, I could feel a nice difference in my body in under a week. Though its easy to not exercise, its hard to make excuses when it's only 8 minutes! Great Concept!
It would be nice if Jorge had included modifications for those who had difficulty performing the exercises.
Jorge also includes a motivational thought for the day. Each day has a different idea to hopefully "kick" you into high gear. Ideas such as visualization, using light, rewards etc. Nothing new, but a nice addition to the book.
The diet is your standard low calorie type fare, with one addition. Jorge has you add one tsp. of flax oil (which you can also purchase from him) or olive oil to your meals to give you that feeling of satiation. I purchased Jorge's flax oil and indeed it does make you feel full..but I found the taste was very hard to get used to. Overall, I was disappointed in the diet. Jorge does not use the new information about how glycemic levels can be effected by certain foods and he suggests foods that easily turn to sugar in your body like bananas. He also suggests eating treats alone and that could trigger cravings in some folks if not paired with a protein.
Jorge says he has trained over 3 million people online in his book. So I was surprised when I visited his website that it seemed like it was still in it's infancy ie chat board just starting etc. I have been on a variety of fitness websites for over 5 years and have never heard of Jorge. I was also disappointed when he suggested on the board the if we needed motivation we buy a small outfit and try to diet to get in it.
Personally, I think we all need to feel good NOW about our bodies and try to make them better by buying clothes that fit and adjusting down when the time is right.
My thoughts are that he knows his exercise but put together a diet program by gathering information from others. I don't think his diet program is anything special or the answer folks have been looking for.
But the book is worth the price for the exercises alone. And Jorge is young and enthusiastic and his knowledge of nutrition will grow! Hopefully his next book will include the wonderful exercises and a better nutrition plan.
