Even though I'm a little leary of Splenda, I'm in love with Stevia!!! Since finding Stevia in the Raw, I've been buying Splenda books because they are both spoon by spoon the same as sugar. (I purchase it at Price Cutter in a bulk bag) This is a wonderful book for this. Not all recipes in this book are healthy...but it's a great start with a lot of great ideas.

If you want to know more about the subject of hypoglycemia and you want to hear it from someone who's experienced it EDWARD KRIMMEL does a wonderful job with the help of his wife Patricia. I just found out I had Hypoglycemia in January after years and years of suffering. It's been a blessing for me finding out what was wrong finally. Their diet is awesome too. I've never felt better. I tried half a dozen of the recipes and the drinks just don't taste right. I also had a bad aftertaste on some.
I'd rather drink MUCH less of the real stuff than drink more of this awful stuff.

I own several Gluten Free, Sugar Free cookbooks and many more medical science books to explain the "WHY"- and there are so many. This book is an excellent cookbook with detailed information for what to substitute where and when. So many Gluten-Free cookbooks never consider the SUGAR factor, which in my opinion, is very mis-leading and for so many Gluten-sensitive people an incredible waste of time, energy, and frustration.
Likewise I have several sugar-free recipe books, where the most common sugar substitutions are still, biochemically sugar. For instance, brown rice syrup-still sugar, your body doesn't know the difference on a chemical level. Glycemic Index wise it's only slightly lower than brown sugar, not enough that one should become too comfortable using as a constant substitution. I don't know what research Kelly relied on, maybe trial-and-error, whatever her method her product is sound and it shows in her consistency and the results the sugar-sensitive consumer experiences. ALSO, importantly, if you're cooking for a skeptical audience, or difficult-to-please children, the food is absolutely delightful.

I came on line to order this amazing book for my friend on the South Beach Diet and was so suprised to see someone question it's accuracy because I am a Weight Watcher (points are in the book), and hate labels that lie! First of all in my copy, that I got a couple weeks back, the first recipe - Strawberry Lemonade- has the ingredients and I did not see a lot of typo's - so hers must have been a bad copy. I did find the 0 grams on the "compare" page - but it is clearly just an innocent mistake. The page highlights that Ms. Koch's Cinnamon Pancakes and Apple Butter Syrup have 11 grams of fat and then "compares" them to regular pancakes and syrup with 3 pats of butter. Since it clearly (in a box) says YOU SAVE: 9 grams of fat - along with 56 carbs, 195 calories and 7 points!!! by having hers instead of the "usual" pancakes and syrup you can see the fat grams on the high fat and sugar comparison should have been 20 (not 0). Yet, just to be sure I re-calculated several recipes with my own nutrition calculator, and they were all perfect - no errors - with accurate data and weight watcher points.
More important - this book not only has great food - Chai Tea, Pumpkin Muffins, a bunch of great Coleslaws, Spinach Salad (with hot bacon dressing), Sloppy Joes, ice creams and even Cheesecake for breakfast - every single recipe I have made has been easy and delicious. It is the first book I have found that does such a good job cutting the fat along with the sugar and carbs and that has good recipes for everyday use (and a bunch for the holidays). I am ordering another book, and her dessert book, as soon as I finish this review and recommend you do so too. You will not be disappointed.

I bought this book because I was looking for recipes using Splenda, and were low in sugar, fat and calories as my husband is a newly diagnosed diabetic. I tried the Banana Muffins recipe first, fully expecting them to taste like "diet food." Wow! Was I ever surprised! I liked the muffins so much, I made them for friends and family who loved them so much they begged me to make more. My husband raved about the Banana Muffins to his doctor who promptly rushed out to buy the book for himself! The books gives analysis per serving info (the main reason I initially bought the book) and the recipes are incredibly easy to follow and taste yummy. We both have hope because of this book that we can eat a variety of healthy, tasty food. This cookbook is the only one I have in my kitchen now. God Bless Marlene Koch for this wonderful book!

I stay away from refined sugar and artificial sweeteners. That can make for some boring beverage selections! So I thought I would try this variety pack, after reading good reviews.
The stevia sweetened lemonades are wonderful! I also love the true orange, lemon and lime flavors in sparkling water & still water. My favorite is the orange in waters but the lemon and lime work well in water AND cooking. I love these, and take them everywhere with me in my purse!
Next time I'll order even more!
