(More customer reviews)I have tasted alot of funky protein products in my day and this by far is the best tasting protein shot I've EVER had! It's give that boost of protein - great for after a workout - in an easy to use (great for on the go) tube. I know this may sound strange, but they taste like jello - before it sets up. They taste so great I always try to get the very last drop out of it! Like other reviewers I just with they made this in a jug so I could refill my tubes. I have found other uses for the tubes though....after washing/drying I put some protein powder in them so I can have those in my purse for a protein shake on the go/away from home.
I HIGHLY recommend this product!

(More customer reviews)I've been using Syntrax Nectar for sometime and have yet to find a protein drink I like as much. Unlike the chocolate/vanilla/etc. milk-based protein shakes, it's designed to dissolve easily in water and comes in a variety of mostly fruit-type flavors. Overall I've had good luck with the various flavors, they are easy to mix, generally have little aftertaste and not as obvious "protein" taste as most whey drinks. However, my experiences with different flavors is not equal and some I would recommend over others. So here's a rundown of flavors I have tried and my ratings of them. Please keep in mind that there are often variations in lots, I've definitely sometimes gotten a batch that has particular issues dissolving and other times, the same flavor does much better. So this is just my own personal experience.
1. Apple Ecstasy - 4 stars - This is the first flavor I tried and I like the taste a lot, very "Jolly Rancher" apple flavor. For some reason though I seem to have more problem with this flavor versus others properly dissolving, it tends to leave behind a bit of grit that I don't care for.
2. Roadside Lemonade - 5 stars - This is my favorite flavor and the one I generally buy. It has great lemon flavor with little aftertaste. I often use a little less than a full scoop which helps it dissolve completely and dilutes out the strong lemon taste a little. I do get some clumps sometimes, but I find it less offensive than the grit I get with the Apple Ecstasy.
3. Strawberry Kiwi - 3 stars - This was just so-so for me but a lot of people would probably like it. I am a big fan of strawberries but the taste didn't work well for me as a drink. It's not a bad as some flavors, but not in my favorites.
4. Caribbean Cooler - 1 star - My least favorite that I've tried. This is a kind of "pina colada" flavor and I found it quite awful. It is a strong taste of coconut and little of the pineapple, if it was the other way around it probably would be much better. Again, everyone's tastes are different, and I know some people like it, but this just didn't work at all for me.
5. Fuzzy Navel - 5 stars - I like this orange flavor a lot and it's my favorite next to Roadside Lemonade. It's not quite like orange juice but close enough to taste like something you are used to drinking.
6. Natural Peach - 2 stars - Peach is one of my favorite flavors so I was eager to try this one, but definitely did not like it much. The "Naturals" line does not have Sucralose and claims to have only natural flavors and sweetners, but strangely enough, it has a more artifical and strange aftertaste for me than the regular flavors. I'm guessing this is due to the protein taste being less "hidden" than in the other types, but for whatever reason, it definitely was not something I would care to drink again. If you have issues with Sucralose though, it may be worth trying.
7. Crystal Sky - 4 stars - This one tastes like a berry-flavored Kool-Aid or Gatorade and has the same bright blue color. If you like Gatorade, you will probably like this flavor as well. I liked the flavor as it is so close to the taste of a normal type of drink although the couple times I've had it I had a little more problem with clumping. I've found clumping to vary with batches and if you use a protein mixing device instead of just vigorous stirring with a spoon like I usually do, it probably won't be an issue.
8. Natural Fruit Punch - 2 stars - Like the Natural Peach, this has a weird aftertaste I really disliked, I just can't imagine someone preferring this flavor over others. It seems that the "Natural" line of Nectar all have this strange aftertaste that is very unpleasant due to the lack of Sucralose, so consider that when choosing the flavor(s) to try.
9. Lemon Iced Tea - 2-1/2 stars - If you like iced tea, you may like this flavor, but it wasn't for me. It does have a taste very similar to iced tea (reminded me of Lipton) and seems to dissolve okay but it was a bit strong for me. A bigger issue was the color of it is kind of off-putting. It was a lot darker than the normal watered-down brown color of iced tea, and looked more like mud. I just found it hard to look at that yucky brown color and want to drink it down.
10. - Cappuccino - 2 stars - This is from their new "Lattes" line and is basically coffee flavored. It dissolved nicely and you can drink either either cold or warm, in water or milk. I tried it just in water with some ice and it does taste reasonably like iced coffee, with perhaps a touch of spice. However, it has a rather strong artificial sweeter aftertaste, stronger than any Nectar flavor I've had, that doesn't go away for sometime after consuming it. Clearly, people that don't like coffee won't like this flavor, but if you are a dedicated coffee drinker like me, you may also not care for something that tastes "sort of" like coffee but not the real thing. I'll have to try this in milk warmed up though and see if the aftertaste is lessened with a different preparation.

Pure Protein Supreme Whey Shots Review

(More customer reviews)I had gastric band surgery at the end of May 2010 and began to lose my hair, so I was advised that I need to consume at least 80g's of protein per day, and I just couldn't consume that much via food without compromising my weight-loss goals. My doctor suggested protein shots, but I could find only 26g shots in local stores, so had to consume two shots per day. I was happy to find this 50g shot. It's convenient, pleasant tasting and the daily cost is the same as the two shots per day of the 26g shots. I'm very happy with this product. Twinlab Amino Fuel Anabolic Liquid Amino Acids Review

(More customer reviews)My middle son has PDD NOS and as a result has defects in the production of his amino acids. He is also notoriously picky about his food and often does not eat enough proteins, which has become an even bigger concern since we started pulling the milk from his diet. Since he has poor muscle tone which does not respond to exercise I cut the dose down by body weight and started him on these to see if they would help him out.(don't do this unless you are a health professional such as myself or under the supervision of one)
He has responded very well to the 1 tsp/day dosage and now we actually don't see ribs on his chest and back. He has more energy and is getting a little bit more strength in his legs over the last 3 months he has been taking them. Rather than lounging lifelessly on the couch for a good portion of the day he is up and active again. These aminos also have vitamins packed in there, many of them are very beneficial to DS as well.
2 negatives - the taste and the absence of Methly B-12 in favor of the cyanocobalamin which tends to be more poorly absorbed. The taste is quite horrid and I am proud of DS for being a trooper and taking these on a daily basis. Mind you, we also take Alpha Lipoic Acid Liquid which is AWFUL tasting, as well as other liquid suppliments so we aren't big into complaining about taste. These are far worse..even my DH (who loves these BTW) still can't get used to the punch these deliver. He also reports a much higher energy level and quicker recovery from his strenuous workouts from taking these at 1/3 the recommended dosage. Any higher he feels they give him a bit too much energy than he needs. They do provide results which is why we suffer through it! I think strawberry would be a better flavor to be honest..
I found the Subscribe and Save price to be the best around.

Nutiva Hemp Protein 50% Organic Review

(More customer reviews)Have never been a big meat-eater, but cut back even more a few months ago. I began supplementing my diet with more beans/legumes, but was not feeling nutritionally satisfied, and realized I was not getting enough protein. Did a little research, and discovered that hemp was ideal for meeting protein requirements, and according several articles I read, it has many other nutritional and health benefits as well. I purchased the Nutiva hemp protein powder in conjunction with the Better Than Milk "Rice" (to avoid over use of soy). According to directions for both products, I mix 4 tablespoons hemp protein and 2 tablespoons of BTM, in water. It mixes easily in a regular plastic shaker, and I don't even have to use the "de-clumping" attachment that fits inside the shaker. It's just Shake-N-Go! This combination has been the perfect way to start my day. I was concerned about the taste, as some reviews I have read rated the taste of hemp very low. I can't speak for other brands, but the finely ground Nutiva hemp powder has a mild nutty flavor, and I LOVE IT. From what I've read, hemp does not contain oligosaccharides (which commonly causes "gastric distress" with soy proteins), and I have not experienced any bloating with the hemp and rice milk combo. I am happy to start my day with something both nutritious and delicious, and thank goodness I don't have to use the electric blender (one less thing to wash). Also, the Amazon price on the Nutiva Hemp Protein and the Better Than Milk Rice can't be beat, and both qualify for free shipping. FANTASTIC!!!

Nature's Plus - Fruitein Green Foods, 1.3 lb powder Review

(More customer reviews)The flavor is really fruity, which I find pleasing, and it keeps me feeling full for about 3 hours. It is packed full of nutrients that aren't found in other protein shakes (e.g. bee pollen, spirulina, barley, green tea, seaweed, fruit, veggies, oat bran, apple pectin, etc.) I've been drinking Spiru-tein and Fruitein shakes for several months now and I have come to crave them in the morning. Fruitein tastes better than Spiru-tein in my opinion, but it is also a few bucks more expensive. Either one is a superior choice to other any other shake that I have tried in terms of nutritional content, ability to satisfy hunger, and flavor.

(More customer reviews)This is a good cheap product if you don't mind the high sugar content. I was able to gain 10 pounds from drinking this. I drink a half serving mix with two cups of whole milk, 2 teaspoon of peanut butter, twice a day for a total of around 2400 calories. I also ate other food, so i was eating about 3/4k calories a day. The powder was easy to mix with my blender. I still got almost half a bucket left, after i finish, i won't be buying this again. There's too much sugar. And yes I knew about the sugar amount before I bought it, but I was being a cheap ass, so i bought it. Next time, I would get the 2600 instead. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it did what it was suppose to do, which is help me gain weight.

(More customer reviews)I have gained 8 pounds in one month off of this stuff after being 136 pounds for the last 6 years even with my 10 years of weight lifting... Now I am 144 My diet was the problem, I had very little red meat and other unhealthy things required for weight gain. I've been using 3 scoops a day which makes this stuff last 25 days to get these results. Also I have felt due to my low calorie diet a lack of energy every day, I felt depressed all the time and could barely get out of bed every morning. Now I have all day energy every day thanks to this stuff, my 8 month depression is over. I am allways happy and allways doing stuff now, instead of burning all my energy out an hour after a meal. I will buy this stuff for probabley the rest of my life. I researched extensively for weeks for the best weight/muscle gainers and this one is the best and cheapest for someone who eats healthy and needs a little something for building muscle in their diets. Chocolate tastes very good expecially with milk, vanilla is okay, bananna is so sicking sweet that it is harder for me to drink than Robetussin. Don't buy bananna unless you like having pure sugar surup in water...
