The Dieter's Calorie Counter Review

This book gathers together calorie counts from food packaging and goverment sources. This is of limited value since the calorie count is listed on all packaged food you buy these days. This is no listing of the fat content, which many people are watching.
The part that really disapointed me was the lack of information on fresh foods. So it is difficult to figure out what food you prepare at home or eat at your local non-franchise dinner might be costing you in calories.
I know it would be impossible to know exactly how many calories are in the food at my local eatery but it would be nice to have enough information to make a wise and informed choice.
There is a lot of information on calorie counter from national chain eateries, but this was of limited use to me.
I am looking for a different source of information.

This book is a great guide for anyone, whether it's someone looking to eat healthier or an expert who wants the latest research translated into the best everyday food choices. I love how I can pick it up at any place in the book and don't have to read the content from start to finish. It's easy to understand, accurate and provides details like what you need to know about buying organic, foods with the highest antioxidant or best nutritional value, and the real scoop on eating right for life. I use this book when teaching, recommend it to my students because it's easy to understand, but most importantly I use it as a helpful source to keep me and my family healthy. I have the Diabetes Carbohydrate & Calorie Counter -and that's a great book too!

I bought this book thinking it would incorporate the latest thinking about journaling your food intake. Instead this journal only gives you places to record the food you ate, calories, amount of protien, fat, carbs, glasses of water drank, and how long you exercised. There is no place to record the time you ate, your feelings before and after eating, your weight, the type and amount of exercise you engaged in and your feelings before and after exercise. Save your money and make your own food journal using a 99 cent notebook.
