I know it's crazy to buy a book for a single pattern, but that's what I did: when I saw the adorable felted Dracula Candy Bowl I simply had to have it. I'm happy to say that this little book is full of creative, easy family projects all oriented toward Halloween.
Having a Halloween party? once you've seen the PB & J skull sandwiches and the cupcake graveyard, your menu will take shape. Need to embellish yourself or somebody else for trick-or-treating? the tulle and lace tutu is too cute for words, and so are the creative jewelry projects, especially the vampire bite necklace and spider earrings. And oh, the ruby slippers! a pair of dressy shoes, spray glue and red glitter...it's a fashion statement every woman should make at least once in her life.
The book is well laid out and the projects use readily available materials and ingredients. Most require adult skills or at least supervision, but you can truly turn the kids loose on a few of them.
My only negative comment about "Witch Craft" is that the typeface is very small, and some hints and tips are in a positively minuscule font or set against a colored background. For many of the projects the directions are fairly general so it's OK, but I'm going to have to copy and enlarge the line-by-line knitting directions for the Dracula bowl. Not an insurmountable problem, but worth noting.
Linda Bulger, 2010

Autumn with Family & Friends (Gooseberry Patch)
Fall is my favorite time of year. And, fall cookbooks from Gooseberry Patch are also my favorites. I have all of their fall/autumn cookbooks. And, while I cherish all of them, my favorite is "Autumn with Family and Friends". In my opinion, this cookbook contains the strongest selection of recipes that I've seen in one cookbook. I've tried many of these recipes and have enjoyed every one of them. The Apple-Pecan Log was out of this world, not only gorgeous but delicious. A simple recipe to prepare but one with a great impact on those lucky enough to try it. There are so many appetizers that I can't wait to try. And, I enjoy reading through the fall memories to bring me a little closer to the season I love so much. If you're looking for a fall cookbook to add to your collection, this is the one!

What a fun and enjoyable book!!! The recipes are so varied and easy to follow. The pictures of the recipes are outstanding. I have truly enjoyed the Honey-Pecan Chicken. It reminds me so of a now closed restaurant in the St. Louis area. The creamy tomato soup is so simple to make and oh so tasty!!!! The sweet potato soup and pumpkin chowder are absolutely wonderful and warming to make. The overnight cherry oatmeal doubled as a dessert at our house and everyone was so amazed and how simple and easy it was to make and it tasted wonderful. My uncle put some whipping cream on top and let it melt down and truly enjoyed himself. I would really recommend this wonderful Gooseberry Patch cookbook to anyone's collection.

I own several of the Gooseberry Patch recipe books, but this is one of my favorites. The Apple Butterscotch Bars are absolutely wonderful. Want to cozy up with a good book?? This is the one to read and then decide what to make first. I would recommend this one. It's a keeper!
